We have been closely monitoring weather conditions and conferring with other local agencies and our operational staff. All D303 schools will be open and operating on a normal schedule tomorrow–Tuesday, Jan. 21. We anticipate and are working to ensure regular operations on our busing routes and in our school buildings. We encourage staff and families to dress for subzero temperatures. As always, families have the option of keeping their children home if they believe the weather is too cold to be outside.
Get ready third grade families for an engaging year of learning! During third grade there is a continued focus on reading and writing as we explore genres, strengthen comprehension and refine the use of reading strategies. We are making the transition from learning to read to reading to learn. We write for a variety of purposes and audiences through forms such as - descriptive, persuasive, narrative, and expository.
Are you ready for the challenge of problem solving, geometry, fractions, multiplication and computation? We hope so!! In social studies and science we explore geography, world cultures, rocks and minerals, and meal worms.
Perhaps the most important part of third grade is developing life long learning skills that will be utilized throughout their educational endeavors. Although third grade can be rigorous, it is also an exciting and rewarding year. Thank you so much for sharing your children with us!
